BQ24105: zener TVS diode between OUT pin and PGND pin

Hi Team,

My customer considers to use bq24105 in his application and asked me the following.


1)
It seems MMBZ18VALT1 is "Dual Commom Anodes Zenors".

Does TI recommend connecting both CATHODE1 and CATHODE2 to OUT?

2)
Should my customer use "Dual Commom Anodes Zenors" like MMBZ18VALT1?

    Hi Yaita,

    The zener diode at OUT is not necessary for the design, as it is only necessary if the battery will be hot plugin or if the SW node layout is not optimized (creating voltage spikes), but if they want to use it, both cathodes can be connected to OUT.
