TPS55165-Q1: What does Vin_startup means?

Part Number: TPS55165-Q1

Hi,

In datasheet, Vin_startup need at 5.3V. Does it mean I cannot use this to boost from 3.6V to 5V?

Thanks.

  • First, this is not a boost. It is a buck-boost. You are correct that it requires 5.3V or higher to start up. This device mainly targets the automotive application with car battery at its input. The normal input voltage is well >5.3V. Once starting up, the input voltage can drop to about 2V, like in a cold cranking event. If you need a boost with 3.6V to 5V input, please consider other TPS61xxx boost converters.
