TPS55340: High boost quiescent current at Vout:24V

Dear Ti,

I had a problem with the high quiescent current of the TPS55340 boost IC with 24Vout, no load condition. For Vin below 12V, the quiescent current is rather high with 24Vout, under no load condition.

In my board, with 9Vin, Iq ~  6 to 7mA. In TI eval board, it is ~ 4mA.

My working specs as below.

Vin: 12V

Vout: 24V@0.5A

or

Vin: 9V

Vout: 12V@1A

How can I reduce the quiescent current?

    What you mean is actually noload current, not quiescent current. for the TPS55340 with 24V output volatge , the no load current is in the  around > 5mA range. Its hard to reduce it to a lower value. Because The IC is still switching at no load.

    Quiescent current means the current when there's no switching. Please check the datasheet carefully.

    You can add a switch to disconnect the Vin and the TPS55340 to reduce it.
