UCC24612: UCC24612 Snubber Calulations

Part Number: UCC24612

I am attempting to set my snubber values on the UCC24612.  It says in data sheet to disable the UCC24612 by not connecting TP3.  Does this mean a person needs to install a Schottky diode to replace the SR driver to measure the secondary ringing?  Also what type of load do I run when measuring the secondary ringing.  Do I measure the ringing across the diode or across the secondary?

The data sheet is not very clear on how this measurement it to be accomplished!

Has anyone done this to give me some direction?

  • Dear Scott,

Thanks to choose TI's device in your design. The reason to disconnect the TP3 is not to provide the power to UCC24612, as below:

In the datasheet 8.2.2.3 snubber design, it mention to test the circuit by SR body diode which is the intrinsic diode of the MOSFET. So you don't need to install a Schottky diode or replace the SR driver. Just make sure the UCC24612 is not working during you test the ringing.

I will suggest 20% of your full load to test the ringing on the Q1(SR MOSFET) when it conduct by the body diode.

If you still have any problem, please feel free to let me know.

    Best Regards

    Kevin
