We use 8 of the PTH08T230W on a board we designed and have been shipping for a couple of years.
We recently had a number come back because some or all of the parts failed.
After a root cause analysis, a growth was discovered on the circuit board that makes up the PSU ( see picture )
The growth has been determined to be mostly copper.
Any speculation on what would cause this and why this part is susceptible to this?
Our product sits an environmentally controlled data center.
We only see this on this component's PCB.
