TPS63051: Efficiency issue in TPS63051

Part Number: TPS63051

Hello,

We are working on low power battery operated product development and used  TPS63051 for buck-boost convertor for 3.3VDC.

We have observed efficiency 36% @ 3mA load current with input voltage 3.7VDC and also we have configured in PFM mode for the light load.

Can you please help me to increase efficiency for TPS63051? Is there any other issue in design level as attached in below image?

Thanks.

Regards,

Alpesh

  • Hi Alpesh ,

The picture did not go through. Could you please repost it? could you share the schematic and the layout?,

Looking at the efficiency curves Fig 10 of the datasheet, around 90% is expected in PFM mode and around 40% in forced PWM mode for the following operating conditions: Vin=3.6V , Vout=3.3V and Iout=3mA.

Could you replace the IC, and measure it again ?
  • Hi Sabrina,
I have sent schematic and layout via personal message.

We have configured as PFM mode and have tried to replace IC on the board but still not succeed to achieve efficiency.
    Can you please check it?

    Thanks.

  • The layout is most probably causing this.
A layout review and suggestions for modifications has been provided through private communication.
