BQ27510-G3: battery is not calibrated! ignoring capacity values

Part Number: BQ27510-G3
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM, BQSTUDIO

Hi,

We are using BQ27510-G3 fuel gauge for one of our custom board. If we try to read the capacity value it is showing as below

bq27x00-battery 0-0055: battery is not calibrated! ignoring capacity values
power_supply bq27510-0: driver failed to report `charge_full_design' property: -5

Please give me the solution to solve the issue

Regards,

Sharmila

  • Hi Sharmila

pls review the document on gauge communication below to know how to properly access the battery gauge.

  • Hi,

As I do have a tight deadline, I would so much appreciate if someone could advice me what should I do in order to calibrate the BQ27510-G3 without using EVM board or if someone could give me the golden image which I can directly use. I am new to this. I would appreciate so much if any advices that would help me during the process.

    Regards,

    Sharmila

You description of your problem is very vague.. My understanding of the issue is that you are unable to properly read back values from the gauge hence my pointing you to the app note on gauge communication.

Is the issue you face with calibrating the board or performing a learning cycle or creating a golden file?

The process is streamlined and if you review most of the documentation posted on the forums you will find out what you are missing.
    The general process is:
-Identify your chem id using our tool, gpcchem
    - program the chem id using bqstudio and then configure your gauge for your application reference the technical reference manual for the device.
-perform calibration of current voltage and temperature by following the steps listed in evm user guide
    -Perform a learning cycle
-Upon completion of the learning cycle, extract a golden file.
-Progrram the golden file on multiple boards

which of these steps are you running into issues?
    thanks
