WEBENCH® Tools/TPS62065: TPS62065

Part Number: TPS62065
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM26484, , TINA-TI

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Team,

In my systems, there are many Ceramic capacitors at the DCDC output.

The capacitors are used to bypass different loades (FPGA etc). I would like to simulate the effect of those capacitors and the different loads (resistors and current sources). The low ESR of the capacitors may cause instability.

I have tried to use Webench and modify components, but as you can see that the probes are disappear. You can see the DC/DC design parameters in the pictures.

I need TI to set for them a test bench so they can simulate their circuits with Webench, Tina or other simulator where they can add extracted PCB parasitic and add capacitors resistors etc.

I will also need a tutorial how to run this. I spending too much time is fixing stability problems with LM26484 (I will appreciate if you can get them a test bench for this PN too).

Thanks,

Shlomi

BTW - I already contact with Chris Glaser from TPS62065 BU but he told me that the Webench team asks post to E2E and share my design for them to debug.

  • Hi Shlomi,

Thanks for sharing your design details and your problem. It looks like you have already configured your design to your liking and are just looking to simulate and check out waveforms for stability analysis. In the last step, you need to click on "Start New Simulation" and once the sim is completed, you should be able to see the probes.
I have recreated the same design for you here and simulated startup testbench in this design: webench.ti.com/.../SDP.cgi

You can open this design and click "Sim" -> "Past Sims" (lower part of screen) and then clcik "View" to view results. You can click on any probe and see the waveforms. Hope this answers your question. If you want to add multiple caps apart from just the 100uF, you can use the standalone TINA-TI model reference design located at: www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware and simulate it there.

    Regards,
    Amod
  • Hi Amod,

I was able to run the simulation with large capacitor (270uF) with low ESR and I can see instability during rise time (see attached picture).

    Questions:

    1. How can I control the duration of the transient simulation in Webench?

    2. How can I go back to the main page from the screen below?

    Thanks,

    Shlomi

  • Hi Shlomi,

Thanks for reaching us on queries.

From the shared picture, we are not able to observe any instablility. These seem like ripple in Vout.

For you above queries, below are my answers.

    1. Go to “Simulation Parameters” tab & click on “Edit” option for Tstop

    2. From edited schematic, you cannot go back to main page. If you want to change BOM again kindly go to "BOM" tab & you should be able to "Select Alternate Part"

However you can click on "New" Tab for creating new design.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Harish
