TLV757P: TLV757 NC pin

Part Number: TLV757P

Dear Expert,

I would like to double confirm with you that the NC pin connection in layout.

The NC pin description in datasheet show " no internal connection ", but I find it have connected to ground in our layout example. Could I float this pin but not connect to GND? Which one is better for TLV757 layout?

Thanks!

-Ben

  • Hi Ben,

if the datasheet tells that there's "no internal connection", then you can usually do with this pin what you want (letting float, connecting to ground). Connecting it to the ground plane makes sense, as this can improve the heat dissipation of the chip by easing the heat flow from the package to the PCB.

  • Hi Ben,

As  mentions we generally recommend grounding NC pins in order to allow for a more solid GND plane.  Keep in mind the GND plane is the primary heatsink for an LDO.  As the NC pins are not internally connected to the die, you are also able to float the pins or tie them to another net if needed for application specific routing.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
