TINA/Spice/LM5025: Issues faced in configuring dead time in LM5025 during p-spice simulation.

Part Number: LM5025
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi,

I am trying to simulate LM5025 in p-spice platform to configure the dead time and frequency of active clamp forward converter. But i am facing the following issues-

1.The simulated value of dead time is not matching with the calculated value.(roughly there is a difference of 20-30ns).

2. For higher values (viz. 300ns), the dead time is not equal in the either side of the main switch gate pulse waveform.

Suggest the possible remedies for above mentioned issues.

  • Hi Deepak,

I am not surprised that there may be some variation between the calculated values and the simulated values of the dead-time. The formulae's for calculated values may have some simplifications that give a small error and the TINA simulation may not match exactly the real silicon level IC model.

In practice the deadtimes are usually optimized on the bench as the circuit capacitance due to the mosfet COSS, power stage magnetics and PCB traces will all have an impact that is difficult to account for in simulation.

    Regards
