BQ78350-R1: What do theses bits mean?

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Hello,

I want to know, what I can control with these bits in this registers:

CEDV Gauging Configuration

SOC Flag Configuration

Could you get in more detail, what these bits are about?

FCCLEARRSOC, FDSETRSOC, TCSETVCT, FCSETVCT, TCCLEARRSOC, TCSETRSOC, TDCLEARRSOC and TDSETRSOC

VFLT_EN, FIXED_EDV0, EDV_CMP, EDV_EXT_CELL, CSYNC, CCT

I read the Technical Reference but I can figure out whats the purpose of this bits?

Thanks for help

  • Hi Paul,
It is a complex device and the technical reference may have errors, but this is the best description. e2e may also have supplemental information if you search, although your favorite search engine may provide insight also. You will need to read and study the technical reference manual.

CEDV Gauging Configuration See bit definitions below table 9-3. Also search for the bit names in the descrption of the functions. Use a text search of the document if it is helpful.

SOC Flag Configuration See bit definitions below table 5-1. Use a text search to find dependencies if you have questions.

In general most of these bits control how to set the battery status flags. You may also want to study sbs-forum.org/.../sbdat110.pdf

FCCLEARRSOC, FDSETRSOC, TCSETVCT, FCSETVCT, TCCLEARRSOC, TCSETRSOC, TDCLEARRSOC and TDSETRSOC Read through section 5.4

VFLT_EN: see 9.1.7, for pulse loads
FIXED_EDV0: see 9.1.8 Lets you not compensate EDV0. That voltage is the end.
EDV_CMP: see 9.1.8 the gauge uses CEDV when set, you need the proper CEDV parameters loaded.
EDV_EXT_CELL: see 9.1.8 Lets you determine if you want to use the minimum cell voltage or the average cell voltage for gauging.
CSYNC: See 5.3. If you are charging to full, that is full and that is the capacity you have.
    CCT: See 17.25
