TPS61322: dc boost's output short protect .

Hi.

My customer use the new boost P/N tps613222A for 5V output, and the output is two cooper pin(please refer to the picture), the size is very small.

Considering the safety and reliability, Customer requires there must be short protect on the output. When the customer short the output, the tps613222A will be broken. The customer doesn't accept adding a NMOS or TVS.

Do you have better suggestion??

it seems you need a boost converter with output short circuit proteciton. What is the Vin, Vo, Io range, coulld you please share it to me? So that I can recommend one to you.

3.7Vin, 5Vout/0.5~1A, output short protect, Quiescent Current is about 5uA.

could you confirm the maximum output current? 0.5A or 1A? High output current normally means high quiescent current.

0.5A is enough. when short, the IC can't be broken.

Just like TPS61099, it has the short output to GND protect. because the customer didn't accept TPS61099's package and price.

TPS61099 can support 3.7Vin 5V/500mA with very low Iq.

TPS61253A can support 3.7Vin 5V/1A with higher Iq.

the competitor: sheng bang wei SGM6603, RMB6mao, it won't be broken when short.
so the customer thinks if the price is below RMB1yuan, it's ok.

are you sure this device support short circuit protection, as i didn't find this information from the datasheet? which means the short circuit protection is not guarantee. I don't think this device support 500mA output current from lithium-ion battery as the battery voltage could be down to 3V. and the efficiency of this device at 500mA is not good.
i would suggest TPS61230A for this application.
