BQ51013A: Qi Question

Part Number: BQ51013A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013B, BQ500212A, BQ51013

Hi everyone

We has developed Wireless Power module  with BQ51013B &BQ500212A .According to End Customer engineer,

He wants to use only wireless power module. He would like to use wireless power standalone. He don't need Qi.

Is there no problem to use wireless power ? Is  there claim from WPC? Please let me know. Thank you.

  • Hello
The bq51013B and bq500212A can be used for wireless power transfer only. The best configuration would be a proprietary design, both RX and TX are provided and known to work together.
But the design cannot claim to be Qi certified, display the Qi logo or claim interoperability with other devices.
  • Dear Mr Bill John

I will apprecaite your cooperation. I have a more question. According to WPC, If my customer get Qi Logo, WPC don't approve to use Qi.
Is it true? Please let me know. Thank you.

    Best regards M.Hasegawa

  • The bq51013A cannot be WPC certified any longer, it is a WPC v1.0 device. The bq51013B and bq500212A can be certified to the latest standard, WPC 1.2.

Certification process is outlined on the WPC website.

But if the customers plan is to use the RX and TX together only and not use interoperability with other devices certification is of much less value.
