TPS61193-Q1: the definition of spread spectrum

Part Number: TPS61193-Q1

Dear all,

Could you teach me about the spread spectrum function.

I have two question about this. Please look at following file.

>QUESTION 1,

Could you teach about the definition of '1kHz modulation frequency'?

>QUESTION 2,

Could you teach about the speed of frequency change by spread spectrum?

Best regards,

  • Hi Takao-san,
Thanks for reaching out, we will review your question and get back to you soon.
  • Hello Yamamoto-san,

Spread spectrum in TPS61193-Q1 basically varies the switching frequency of the boost controller about a fixed central or nominal frequency. For  TPS61193Q1, spread is +/-3% of the nominal switching frequency. A modulation frequency of 1KHz is used for spreading the switching frequency. Modulation frequency can be thought of as a triangular wave of 1KHz and rising ramp of this wave increases the switching frequency monotonously until it reaches the highest frequency in the spread and  falling ramp of the wave then successively reduces the switching frequency until it reaches the lowest frequency in the spread. This process than repeats at 1KHz rate.

I hope this explanation is helpful.

    Regards,

    Liaqat
