BQ76PL455A-Q1: BQ76PL455A-Q1

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL536A-Q1

Hello,

I want make BMS with PowerPump Balancing technology ( active cell balancing with multi inductors energy transfers) for automotive application and i'm trying to find the cheapest solution.

I'm using 48 V battery with 36 cells hybrid capacitors (each cell has a 1.4 V)

So, i want to use BQ76PL455A-Q1 as a monitor and a gate driver with his EQn outputs but i doubt if he can driver the mosfet as it is not indicated in the datasheet the maximal voltage for this output(only minimal value

1.8 V mentioned).

if not can i use the BQ76PL536A-Q1 instead of the BQ76PL455A-Q1 as his cell balancing control output can deliever 36 V ?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Karim,

The voltage at the EQ(x) pin should be approximately the same as the cell(x) voltage, minus a small amount of diode drop.

I am not as familiar with the 536, but if I remember correctly with the PL455 the EQ pin will not turn on with a cell voltage below 1.8V. You will not be able to balance your capacitors because of this - actively or passively
