BQ27510: BQ27510 temperature measurement in PFC=1

Hi Team,

My customer has below questions, could help answering?

With regards to determining the battery temperature by the Bq27510, our system runs with PFC = 1 (PFC_CFG1 = 0, PFC_CFG0 = 1), and document SLUS816A states:

“When PFC = 0 or 2, the bq27510 must be queried by the system in order to determine the battery temperature. At that time, the bq27510 will sample the temperature. This saves battery energy when operating from battery, as periodic temperature updates are avoided during charging mode.”

This makes me think it determines the temperature periodically with PFC = 1 and just returns its register contents on query. Is this indeed the case, and if so, what is the period of measurement?

    hi Frank,
    if the gauge is set to measure temperature of the battery either using the thermistor or the internal temp sense, the gauge takes temperature measurements every once every second. While in sleep mode, the gauge takes measurements once every 20 seconds. I hope this answers your question.
