TPS1H100-Q1: Sense pin resistor package selection

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1

Hello,

I am using TPS1H100-Q1 HSD. I am selecting sense pin resistor package. This HSD has protected battery supply. So Clamped load dumpe at 35V will appear at HSD supply pin for 250msec.

If in worst case, I assume this pulse voltage appearing at sense pin through internal HSD circuitry, I have to select 1210 package according resistor peak pulse power dissipation rating. So please confirm if this assumption to select sense pin resistor package is valid?

Regards,

  • Hello,

I would like to better understand the question. Load dump is clamped at 35V. Is your assumption that 35V appears on sense pin CS? CS pin voltage is internally clamped at 4.9V in case of fault. 35V will not appears on CS pin. I guess the 1210 package is for the pull down resistor on CS pin. The sense pin pull down resistor power rating is square(Vcs,H)/Rcs. CS pin will be damaged if 35V appears on it and pull down resistor bigger package will not help for protecting it. I hope this answers your question.
