Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25601
My customer wants to use the BQ24295.
Their info and question is:
A quick technical question regarding the BQ24295:
Our marketing department is not 100% sure whether USB should be in (all devices).
Hence I would like to investigate wheter the BQ24295 could be ran with a normal (~5V) adapter (i.e. non-USB). I think technically this should be possible (e.g. by just shorting the D+ and D- lines on the PCBA (e.g. with a jumper), thereby allowing 3A currents).
Is there any reason why we should not do this (i.e. I don’t see the AC-adapter option within the BQ24295 datasheet as such, maybe for a reason?) or would you have any concern from your side why we should not do this?
--------------------------
Looking at the datasheet I see that connecting D+ with D- should emulate the Charging Port detection and so facilitate 3A. If Ilim with external resistor also is set to 3A of course.
Please confirm if this assessment is correct and this is concern free!
Best regards,
Frank
