TWL4030 Compensation techniques

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950

My customer has the following doubt; does anybody know of any other technique to compensate the RTC of TWL4030.

The purpose of this mail is to explore the techniques available for compensation of drift in RTC Timing. The conventional approach suggested in http://focus.ti.com/lit/an/swca024/swca024.pdf is by gating the high frequency clock with the 32KHz clock as shown in the below diagram. Then, obtaining the count of the high frequency clock after gating. The count thus obtained indicates the degree of the drift. This approach requires an additional hardware for Anding 32KHz and high frequency clock. We would like to know  TI experts’ opinion, on any other techniques using which we can generate the compensation values for the RTC-TWL4030 assuming both 32KHz and high frequency clocks are available and the best suited technique with and without additional hardware for computing the compensation values.
