WEBENCH® Tools/LM2596: Adjustable Output and Through hole?

Part Number: LM2596

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Is it possible for the simulator to simulate an adjustable buck converter directly with the adjustable version of the LM2596? I understand that it is only the feedback that needs to be changed and that is documented in the datasheet, but I was wondering if the WEBENCH® designer was compatible with that and you would tell it to do an adjustable output (with a potentiometer perhaps?). Also can you tell the WEBENCH® to only use say through hole parts as a lot of the boards I use are only really through hole compatible(I am a hobbyist hand-soldering everything with non-custom boards available)?

  • When I ran LM2596 Webench simulation directly from the product folder www.ti.com/.../LM2596

the default IC selected is the ADJ version. In the schematic, you can see the Rfb1 and Rfb2 connected to the FB pin. You can also check in the BOM, U1 is the adj version in my simulation.

I am not aware how to filter through hole only devices in Webench. I will leave Webench tool experts to help you with that.
