Hi,

I would like to know the minimum requirements for a Qmax update after a partial discharge.

My understanding is this:

a) 37% passed charge is required.

b) 0 amps current flowing (or is this quit current?)

c) dV/dt < 4uV/s (or 5 hours)

1. Is this correct?

2. Also, If the current is less than the "DeadBand" setting is this considered 0 Amps?

Hi Tim,

sorry for the long delay.

The requirements are:

- The batt AverageCurrent() < Quit Current
- dV/dt < 4uV/s
- C/20 for current to make sure the battery is relaxed.

Let me find out on the Deadband and on the charging.

I'm not getting a qmax update after discharge, even after a 5+ hour relax.

THIS IS A BQ34Z100-G1

Follow on questions:

If dV/dt is not less than 4uV/s does the 5 hour timeout still result in a Qmax update?

How is dV/dt calculated? How many samples are used? My calculation indicates that I achieved < 4uV/s.

I do want to mention that for discharge current it is recommended to make sure your current is C/100 to make sure the gauge thinks the cell is relaxed to then take a Qmax update. This is another possible reason for not having a Qmax update

HI Tim,

I do want to mention that I am aware C/20 is in the DS, but if you are experiencing any problems then try to use C/100 to make sure the battery cell is rested. Another good thing to check is a basic item, but make sure IT is enabled. Your gg file will tell us this.
