Current Capability of DDR termination regulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS51200, TPS51206

Hi,

We are planning to use a DDR termination(VTT) regulator in our design, with USB 5V as input voltage.

Our design requires two DDR3/DDR3L memory (2 X 512MB), with VTT to be used  for address(16bits) and command lines(ODT for Data lines).

Can you please let me know how to calculate the current required (Iout) for DDR termination regulator.

It would be helpful to choose the correct regulator for our design.

Thanks,

Uma

  • Hi Uma,

Micron has DDR power calculator to calculate the total power. The power budget should be from DRAM supplier and system designer, not from power supplier vendor. But from my experience 1A should be good enough for 2x512MB. You can use either TPS51200 or TPS51206 for this application.
