TL760M33-Q1: Load Dump Protection

Part Number: TL760M33-Q1

Hi,

"Load Dump Protection" is mentioned on the top of the datasheet.

How does  this protection work?

And is this general function?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi,

Your question will be answered the next US business day. Please check back later.

  • Hi Kuramochi,

In one of the TI application notes, load dump test has been explained. A few comments from me: Load dump test is defined in ISO-7637-2 standard as pulse 5a/5b. As this device has a suppressor to 45V, the Us value showed in the following screenshot has been clamped at 45V.

  • Jason-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

Does it mean that 45V tolerance is load dump protection?

I had never seen "Load dump Protection" in TI's automotive LDO products.
    Does TL760M33-Q1 have special function?
Or, is it high voltage LDO simply?

    Best Regards,
    Kuramochi
  • Hi Kuramochi,

Load dump protection is commonly seen with off battery wide-Vin LDOs in which applications LDOs have been directly powered by car battery. For this device, the 45V is the clamping voltage specifically pertaining to the load dump pulse test described in my previous post.
