TPS92518EVM-878: Board Layout Vs Schematic documentation

Part Number: TPS92518EVM-878

Hello,

TPS92518EVM-878 Board layout, Fig 14, pg 12, SLUUBM0A, appears to show provision for two current sense resistors in parallel for each channel, yet the schematic does not show this. 1) Are there provision for qty 2, 1206, current sense resistor for each channel?

If no, 2) why would not the Rsense be provisioned with a larger resistor package size than a 1206 to accommodate higher current applications than 1.6A?

Thanks

  • Hello Craig,

The layout picture in the user's guide is not current, it is in the process of being updated right now. So there is only one 1206 resistor for each channel on the current EVM. I am not sure why the systems engineer went with a single 1206. But you can stack 1206 resistors on the EVM for higher currents (make sure to not exceed the saturation current rating of the inductor). In any end design you can of course choose a 1210 or 2010 or parallel resistors or whatever you need for the current you would like to drive.

    Regards,

    Clint
