BQ27441-G1: Problem to get HIBERNATE and SHUTDOWN modes

Part Number: BQ27441-G1

Hello everybody!
I have some trouble to enter HIBERNATE mode on my gas gauge. My average current, read from the gauge, is lower than the HIBERNATE current, read also from the gauge. Despite being HIBERNATE bit in CONTROL_STATUS set, the gauge does not enter HIBERNATE mode, it stays always in sleep mode (current measured by external ammeter).

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

  • Hi Jose
For most of our single cell gauge, the device has to take a valid OCV reading before it can enter hibernate mode to avoid errors from being introduced into the gauging algortihm. It takes about 15 mins for the gauge to enter hibernate.. so you have to make sure there is no comm on the line, the current is below the hibernate current and the battery is well relaxed for the gauge to take an oCV measurement and enter hibernate mode.
    thanks

  • Hi Onyx. Thanks for your response.

I have not tried waiting such time. In my case, my system gets 34uA from the battery (where 23 uA are from the gauge), so it's below the hibernate current.

I will test what you've told me and reply whether it works or not.

    Thanks for all

  • Hi again Onyx.
My gauge entered HIBERNATE mode after leaving it for several minutes.
    Thanks for all!
