LM5141: About role of “B170-13-F(D2)”

Hi Team,

Could you please let us know the role of “B170-13-F(D2)” on LM5141 EVM?

We would like to remove “D2” because we suppose that efficiency is improved.

Hello Hideto san,

The role of the diode is for it to conduct during the dead times between Top and bottom FET conduction times. The additional diode prevents the body diode of the bottom FET to conduct. As a result Reverse recovery of the diode is much lower than that of the body diode. this improves switching losses.
