IC Selection Advice

Hello -- I'm a writer for AllAboutCircuits.com and I need an IC recommendation for a project.  We create reference designs that don't have much in the way of limitations.

I will be using Silicon Labs CP2102N Q28 USB-to-UART (datasheet).  I would like to add a battery-charge circuit to the device.  Page 7 indicates the general configuration of the device.

I can use any battery chemistry, any reasonable number of cells, and any IC.  I'm looking for a recommendation for the battery-charge IC and battery to go with it.  After that is selected, I would also need an appropriate Boost-converter to provide 5 V, ~0.5-1.0A output.

Thanks,

Mark

It seems you want a single cell battery charger. So, the full charge voltage is 4.2V which is below 5V and good for boost converter output.
For charger selection, you can check this selection tool and pick a linear charge to save your design effort. www.ti.com/.../products.html
For Boost-converter selection, would you start with a new post to boost switching converter forum?
