TPS27S100: Why serial resisters between MCU and TPS27S100 are recommended?

Part Number: TPS27S100

Hi team,

Why serial resisters between MCU and TPS27S100 are recommended?

Though, the datasheet says that the resisters will protect MCU, I would like to understand more deeply this.

What kinds of noises do these resisters protect MCU from? and so on..

Regards,

  • Hello,
The resistors protect the MCU in case of abnormal situation such as reverse polarity. The TPS27S100 I/O pins have ESD diode from the pin to GND. In case of reverse polarity, the current flow from GND, through the ESD diode and MCU. These resistors limits the current a prevent damage of the TPS27S100 and the MCU as well.
