Battery Charger , boost, buck boost input and output.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25703A, BQ25895

Hello,

we have tried using a BQ25859 with some success, but not completly.  We want a product with buck boost capability and charging lion battery.  our input is 12v and we are wanting to regulate out to 5v down the line.  It is staying at 12v and no conversion.  When we input 5v the 5v boost line is true.  when 12v input the 5vboost line is 12v.  Any suggestions?

  • bq25703A is a buck boost charger that can support 3.5~24V input range and up to 19.2V output. Please check bq25703A to see if it can meet your requirement or not.

  • This is actually the one we were looking at and thought about switching too.  However we did find that with a buck converter between 12v in and bq25895 that we were currently using it seemed to work.  If we kept the bq25895 we would have to replace the breadboard style buck converter we have with a surface mount chip and a couple other ancillary pieces.  Would moving to the bq25703a replace having to add additonal parts to the bq25895?

  • Right now, I don't figure out the system looks like. Please draw a block diagram to help me understand the system requirement.
