TPS92515-Q1: surge test

Part Number: TPS92515-Q1

Dear all,

My customer must conduct following surge test.

However, I think this device will be broken because this device's absolute maximum rate is 45V.

Is my understanding wrong?

In addition, could you teach me how to take measures against this surge?

Best regards,

  • Hello Takao,

The HV version has an abs max of 65V. However damage can occur at anything over the abs max so an 80V transient would need to be suppressed. The most common method is to use a TVS at the input of the device to clamp VIN at 65V or less.

    Regards,

    Clint
