BQ27510: Improving Accuracy with Larger Value Sense Resistor for Low Current Applications

Part Number: BQ27510
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , BQSTUDIO

I am using the bq27510-G2 and soon bq27510-G3 in a design. The question has come to me if I can improve the accuracy by using a larger value (0.040 ohm) sense resistor in place of the recommended 0.005 Ohm to 0.020 Ohm sense resistor in my application as my maximum current draw is 3A.

Will using this larger value (0.039 Ohm) resistor improve my fuel gauge accuracy significantly over the recommended 0.010 Ohm resistor?

I have taken note that bqEASY allows me to enter a value for the sense resistor for generating my battery profile but BQSTUDIO does not.

Does bqSTUDIO "learn" the sense resistor value?

Should the sense resistor be 0.010 Ohm for bqSTUDIO to create a proper profile?
