TPS7A66-Q1: TPS7A6633

Part Number: TPS7A66-Q1

Dear Sir,

Customer using TPS7A6633, one of application is external power will supply to Vout when Vin no power supply.

If that,

1. Pin8 need to consider reserve current protection?

2. We found PG is pull-low as above application, is it make sense?

3. Customer would like keep PG is high impedance when external power supply (Vin no work). Do you have suggest?

Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

I recently helped with another problem that customer has seen when MCU being programmed. You can find that post here:

Since you are using a device, I will need more information from you. What's the voltage applied on Vout when Vin is floating? When you have the voltage applied on Vout, can you also monitor the Vin?

There is no mentioning on the datasheet that says this device has reverse voltage protection. If you know that your application will have a voltage higher than Vin at vout, you may need to consider adding a forward biased diode from Vout to Vin, that would help to keep PG high as well.
