AC/DC converter for 230V/50Hz and 115/60Hz

Hello Support Team,

Please propose the solution for designing AC/DC conveter from 230V/50Hz.

115/60Hz grid is optional. It must be foreseen in the design in such way that with a minimum of component changes the CU can be used for 115/60Hz.

Required output voltages are 24 VDC, 5 VDC, 3V3 @4A

Hi Abhilash,

Thanks for your interest in TI. Depending on the total output power of this design and how tight each output voltage needs to be regulated, a universal input flyback with multiple outputs may be appropriate. As a reference, take a look at PMP444 which accepts 85Vac to 265Vac and produces a 24V and 12V rail:www.ti.com/.../PMP4444

Thanks for interesting in TI's products.
So the normal input condition is 230V/50Hz, need to have flexibility to the circuit, in case for the 115/60Hz design.

I am not sure for the output design, for 24V, 5V and 3.3V all need to support up to 4A for continuous power?
So the Maximum power will be 24*4+5*4+3.3*4=129.2W?

What kind of application you are focus on?
If you want better efficiency and output regulation, I will suggest you to use three controller for each out put.
Or you design is quite cost sensitive, need one controller for three output?

The updated details are as below :
The normal input condition is 230V/50Hz, need to have flexibility to the circuit, in case for the 115/60Hz design.
Maximum power =3.3*500mA + 5*500mA+24*1A = 28.15W
Targeted application is Controller for industrial environment/commercial

Yes, the design supports both 230V/50Hz and 115V/60Hz.

Hi Abhilash,

I would suggest going through the UCC2863x design calculator to determine the maximum stress of your components for your use case. The calculator can be found here: www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware.

The current sense resistor value will likely need adjustment. I expect you would not need as much input capacitance in your design. R27, R28, R29, R30, R31, R32, D12, R26, R23 and Q2 form an OVP protection circuit on the 24V rail. You may or may not need this depending on your application. I would expect the snubber values for C17, R21, C19 and R22 could be adjusted to get better efficiency.
