TPS92602-Q1: CV mode and CC mode question

Part Number: TPS92602-Q1

Hello

Could I know what’s different work on CV or CC mode? Or together? And how to judgement the function work on CV or CC mode for TPS92602? Thank you.

BR

Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

The current set-point depends on the output current sense resistor and 150mV sense voltage. The output voltage set-point depends on the output resistor divider connected to OVFB pin and the 2.2V feedback voltage.
If the circuit reaches the current set-point first, it will work in CC mode, the output current is controlled to be constant. Voltage on OVFB pin will be lower than 2.2V.
If the circuit reaches the voltage set-point first, it will work in CV mode, the output voltage is controlled to be constant. Voltage across ISP and ISN will be lower than 150mV.
Please help to click "Resolve" if this answers your question. Thanks.

  • Hi Shirley,

If my customer would like to keep CV and CC mode, but increasing the LED current per channel up to 3A, does TI has suitable solution to recommend?

  • Hi Andy,

What do you mean by keep CV and CC mode? The LED driver can only work at one mode at one time, depending on the design. It can not control the voltage and the current at the same time.
The current capacity depends on the design of the whole system. This is a controller, not regulator, so 3A current is ok for the device.
