Hi,
I intend to use the TPS2421-1 as inrush controller and current limiter for a 5V powersupply with two input sources. A 5V wall adapter and a 5V Powerbank (battery)
The wall adapter is the primary power source but if the system has to be portable a 5V powerbank is used to power the system.
There will be two TPS2421 devices with their outputs connected but only one is active (enabled) at a time.
This condition appears when the wall adapter is connected, its TPS2421 is enabled and the powerbank gets connected (the wall adapter still is dominant). When the wall adapter gets removed, the TPS2421 of the powerbank gets enabled whilst the wall adapter TPS2421 gets disabled. The downstream hold up capacitor will remain the 5V output voltage so the Powerbank TPS2421 enables whilst there is 5V output present.
The TPS2421 from the wall adapter then has only 5V at its output but no input voltage.
My questions are:
1: Will the disabled TPS2421-1 be OK with 5V at its output and no input voltage.
2: Will the TPS2421-1 when powered at the input and enabled start up correctly in a pre-biased output (5V at its output) condition?
3: Do I need to connect cross diodes between both power inputs to keep both e-fuses with an input voltage at all times even when one is disabled?
Thanks for commenting if this is an allowed use of the TPS2421-1.
