Hello,

I am using TPS61021A Booster with LiSoCl2 battery based IoT Device so Vout from TPS61021A 4V for GSM module and MCU and I want to place another DC-DC booster circuit for PGA460 Ultrasonic Sensor so this sensor needs 7.2 v so I will use this LMR62421 IC but both boosters have Inductor coil (TPS61021A uses 0.47uH and LMR62421 uses 10uH on the same side ) Almost closer to each other because of size limitation of PCB. So I want to confirm that both boosters will work perfect or any interference between them.

Its OK to put the two inductor close to each other. But be carefull, the inductor 's SW node should keep a distacne with the output side to avoid the SW noise coupled into the output cap.

What is the maximum loading(Iomax, Vo) for GSM module adn for Ultrasonic Sensor? so that we can recommed the right part for you.

Hello Helen,
i will carefull with SW noise, btw i am using TIDA 01387 for GSM module supply and module needs upto 1800ma peak current approx 250ma active mode consumption. In case of ultrasonic requires 90ma when generate burst pulse and less than 1 ma for active mode MCU consumption.

WHat is the output volatge range of LiSoCl2 battery?

Dear Helen,
LiSocl2 output voltage range is 2.2 to 3.6 v and for more info i attached Spec sheet of Saft LiSoCl2 battery 7.7Ah.
Pulse current can be high as 2A and last long as 577us within a 4.615 ms period.

Thanks, then TPS61021 should be OK for this application. But during the load transienet, the output volatge will drop, in the GSM applicaiton, generally we add an extra 470uF cap at the output side to make the Vomin upper a certain value. What is the Vomin you needed?

I am based out of New Delhi and working on a similar combination - LiSOCl2 and TPS61021A

for GSM.

Are you using the TIDA-01387 ref. design from TI?

Were you able to get your hands on the KAMAP caps?

I would love to know how this is working for you. I've tried various combinations

of switching regulators from TI. Maybe we can help eachother.

The maximum output current of the battery is only 150mA,which is much much less than the Iin in the real application. So the battery you used now is not fit for the application. You must change it to Limon2 battery with at least 4-5A output current capability.

Besides the change of the battery, you also need to add at least 1000uF cap(you can use EL cap, 2 or 3pcs 470uF cap in parallel is also OK) at the output side per my test.

No, i am recently working on FRAM device because i switched MCU ATMEL to TI so i was quite busy learning some Low power technique in MSP430 devices. And Can you suggest any link TIDA-01387 readymade EVM.

Hi Yogesh,

If you compare the schematic http://www.ti.com/lit/df/tidrqo2/tidrqo2.pdf with the TPS61021 EVM schematic, you can found the only difference is the input and the output cap. 2X470uF more EL cap at the input and the output side.

so you can apply for a TPS61021 EVM board from your local TI FAE. And prepare the 470uF or 1000uF cap at the same time.

The output+ trace is so thin, since it need to flow 2A, please pour pin3 and pin4 (Vout) as what you did for the GND net. Please refer to the TPS61021 section "

10.2 Layout Example" for the placement.

Thankyou for your fast reponse i jush checked the Vout Track yes, I will change and follow the layout again i think this one skipped. And the other layout is ok or not ? is there any mistake in module ground track or etc?

The GND of C10 can be directly connect with the GND plane of C6 and C8, I found it connect to GND through a via, which is strange. So you need to compare your layout with the layout example in the datasheet.

I had completed the design along with GSM module. And I tested that there is only 150ma current output maximum from TPS61021A and I also input from the power supply, not battery which sets on 3.3v 1 Amp after that I get only 4V 150 ma maximum current but GSM module is working I placed 2200MFD cap for GSM module.

Please suggest me some solution.
