Hi team,

Regarding LM5160DNTFBKEVM, I am curious to know if this design can withstand a 44V input (rated 32V). I've tested up to 37V without a problem, but before I go further, I wanted to check with the experts. It looks like all of the components on the input side can take the increased voltage/power. What problems might arise from increasing to 44V input?

well my new design with the LM5160 immediately blows up ... so anything over 0 VIn may be a problem

Hello,
I don't recommend using device EVM outside of specified range.

Hi Brani,

Do you have any recommendations for changes that could be made (component swaps, etc) to allow this board to operate at higher input voltages? I see many component similarities to the 60Vin LM5160DNTBKEVM design. The input-side components vary in value, but their power ratings are very similar (100V caps on both, 125mW vs 100mW resistors). I see the FPWMM/Vcc cap might need to be beefed up with a higher-voltage cap. But the device itself shouldn't have any issue with 44Vin, given its 65Vin rating.

So is this possible with modifications?

Hi Brian,

Yes, you can run this at VIN = 44V (no component changes required).
