UCC28950: Derating output using SS/EN pin (pin 5)

Part Number: UCC28950

I have a circuit which is attempting to enable and control the output voltage by lowering the voltage on pin 5. This pin is described as a second positive input to the error amplifier, on a lowest wins basis with the main positive setpoint input (pin 2). All works fine - I can inhibit, start operation and adjust OP voltage via pin 5 - until it reaches (I believe) the voltage at pin 2. At this point it seems to lose it's positive IP role, although bringing it down below 0.55V

Is this the expected behaviour - ie have I got to rebuild the circuit to shut down via pin 5 and voltage control via pin 2?

Many thanks, Pete

  • Hi Pete

Can you post the schematic you are using ? if you can't do it here then send it to me directly at colingillmor@ti.com

The SS/EN pin (pin 5) operation is described in the datasheet on page 29

I'll have to check about it 'losing its positive i/p role' - this would not be the normal use of this pin.
