TPS7A7200: Current Limit test

Part Number: TPS7A7200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A83A

Dear E2E Member,

Our Customer use TPS7A7200 and test OCP on system board, But the parasitic inductance of load line is too big lead to the VOUT/IOUT abnormal.

The waveform as below,

Except use shorter load line to test (The system board is too big), What method can suggest to customer to test the OCP function simply?

Thanks!

  • Hi Julian,

Could you tell me more about your current limit test method? Also, could you retake the scope shot to include Vin on the same scale as Vout? To make the scope shot easier to read, please line up the GND references for the voltages (Vin and Vout).

Please also provide a schematic of how you are using TPS7A7200. Keep in mind that there are limitations to the amount of output capacitance for TPS7A7200. Cout should be 4.7 uF to 47 uF or 47 uF to 200 uF with a 220 pF feedforward capacitor. If the output capacitor requirements are not followed the current limit circuit can become unstable and oscillate.

TPS7A83A is a pin to pin 2-A LDO that can tolerate higher output capacitor values.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
