TPS23753: TPS23753 design questions

Part Number: TPS23753

Hello,

My customer is creating a new design using the TPS23753.  They are using app note SLVA305C and have a few questions they would like clarified:

  1. In section 2.6.2, how did we come up with Vdrop_secondary=0.4V?
  2. In section 2.6.4 we state that N=7(Np_s rounded to integer).  Does that mean rounded DOWN?  Our example gives 7 with a 7.77 original value.

Thanks,

Dan

  • Hi Dan,

    1. Vdrop is really the diode drop on the secondary. Typically, we take an approximation from the diode's datasheet VF curve around the average secondary current (2A).

    2. That's correct, the calculation is for the max turns ratio, so the app note rounds down. Further below, when the transformer was chosen, it was a 5.26 turns ratio.

    Regards,
