BQ24072: input current set is 1.5Amps, charging current is set to 0.4A

on BQ24072RGTR input current (pin 13) set is 1.5Amps, charging current is set to 0.4A.

when i connect a wall adapter which can provide 2A, would the current consumed by the input pin 13 would be 1.5A or roughly 0.4A?. (load is not connected while charging)

Yes this sounds correct the input current will go to BAT or OUT pins and input current should equal output current.

UPDATE to above--The device has a Supplement mode that will take power from battery to OUT if needed--in this case input current will not equal output current.

Thanks for the reply Bill.

I have set the pin 13 IN pin to take a max of 1.5amps. And the charging current is set to 0.4 amp. My question is , when I connect a power supply which can provide up to 2amps to pin 13, how much current does pin 13 consume when the out pin is not connected to load. Is the current consumed by pin 13 is 1.5amps or 0.4amps.

The max current IN Pin 13 can draw is set by ILIM Pin 12. You have set this to 1.5A.
If there is no load on OUT Pin 10, 11 and all current will go to the battery, BAT Pin 2, 3 then current at BATT and IN will be the same.
The max battery current is set by ISET Pin 16 (also EN1 & EN2). You have it set to 0.4A.

Input current should then be a max of 0.4A in this case.
