TPS23756: 24V input for PoE

Part Number: TPS23756
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23754,

Dear expert,

I am looking for a 24V input through CAT-5e ethernet cable .AT solution.

After looking into datasheet of TPS23754/56, the key different between 23754 and 56 is threshold voltage at Vc.

Should I use TPS23756 for 24V input application? Or I can use both TPS23754 and 56 for 24Vin via setting voltage on PPD pin to turn on internal hotswap?

Thanks!

  • Hi User,

The TPS23754 was meant to be used for 24V applications while the TPS23756 was designed more for 12V applications (but can still work with 24V). Note the current limit of the PD remains the same so the max power for a 24V application will be ~20W at the PD frond end.

That's correct, if implementing a solution for 24V through the Ethernet cable, PPD should be used.

    Thanks!

    Regards,
