Hi,

Will LM2678 part will be discontinued ? Because there is an alternate part specified in the website .

And LM2678 is 5A but the alternate part is 3A , Is this part suggested is pin to pin compatible? Please suggest

There are no plans to obselete this device.
This is a rather old device and the alternatives shown are newer and provide higher performance.

Thank you for your reply .
Here I have one question. The LM2678 part supports 5A current but the alternate part suggested is supporting only 3A current, My requirement is 4A can you please suggest me Similar kind of(alternate part) part that meets my requirement.?
And Is the suggested part pin to pin compatible with old part?

Karthik ,

You dont need to look for other parts .LM2678 wont be discontinued in near future . Also if you are looking for newer part you may refer to LM73605.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Can you please suggest me a input protection circuit for this regulator becauce I am directly feeding in the 9V-36V wide range DC supply so suggest me how to provide protection such a

1.Short Circuit.

2.Reverse voltage

3.Transient/Surge.

and Please suggest if any further protection is required.

Basically am using it for HMI design so I need a good amount of input protection , so that no damage is occurred to my HMI.
