BQ34Z100-G1: bq34z100-g1 System side configuration

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34110

We plan on using the BQ34Z100-G1 configured as a system side fuel gage.

Does a reference design or application note exist that shows connectivity when used as a system side fuel gage?

  • Hi Robert,

We don't have a ref design explaining this. In general any IT gauge will not efficiently work as a system side gauge (even though it can be made to work for a system side) as it is not able to track the impedance of the cells. This is the whole purpose of IT. If you are making this application for the purpose of using multiple different packs at any time then it will not work as the new packs will have different impedance etc. A CEDV gauge would perhaps work better as it only does coulomb counting and it only learns when it goes down to 7%. Perhaps a bq34110 will work. However we don't have any specifics on doing system side for these devices.

    Thanks

    Miguel
