RTOS/BQ40Z50: CB behavior and timer. Qmax calculated for CB byass Q

Part Number: BQ40Z50

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

We verify the CB and CBR function, and have some questions as below :

(1)    In relax mode, the CBR will pause while OCV measurement.  After OCV taken, balance timer set to 0 and then updated.

We would like to know more about the behavior,  such as whether “OCV measurement” rule be the same CBR disable ?

How much time will the CBR pause ?

(2)    Would the “Bypass Q” affect “Passed Q” for Qmax calculation ?

  • Hi Chiu,

We have assigned this to someone and will get back to you shortly.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

The OCV measurement rule is the same and does not depend on CBR bit. Typically it takes between 30 minutes and 2hrs for the dv/dt condition to be met for OCV measurement, but it can take up to 5hrs for the OCV if dv/dt condition is not met and the OCV is forced due to timeout. So, it is possible for Cell Balancing to be disabled for up to 5 hrs. Typically we see the cell balancing stopped for about 30 minutes.

The "Bypass Q" is not taken into account for Qmax calculation.
