BQ24650: STAT1 LED blinks

Occasionally the STAT1 LED blinks and the charge current fluctuates. The cells are nowhere near full (~3.7V x 3 cells). Why does this happen?

STAT2 was OFf.

Please refer to datasheet page 17 table 2. When both STAT1 AND STAT2 are off, the device is in fault state. Please check if the device is in any fault state described in the datsheet (ovp, sleep mode, ts fault, etc.)
