TPS62090-Q1: DCM mode

Part Number: TPS62090-Q1

Support Path: /myTI & TI store/myTI account/

Hello,

I like to find out what will be the load in mA for this device to enter DCM mode?

Also, I like to know should I increase the power inductor in order to decrease the load for it to enter DCM mode?

What will be the inductor value if I want the load to be < 80mA for the device to transition to DCM mode?

What is the range of power inductor I can use on this device? from 1uH to ??

I have 1.4MHz swtiching freq, and a 1uH power inductor, with 2x 22uF cap at output.

The device is 5V in and 1.8V out.

Second device at 5V in and 3.3V out.

Another at 5V in and 1.05V out.

Thanks

Rachel

  • I think the datasheet provides all the information. Section 7.4.2 has the equations for the calculations of power save mode parameters and the tables in section 8.2.2 show the recommended inductor - output capacitor combinations. Equation 5 in this application note may be more convenient to use for your calculations than the datasheet information in section 7.4.2.

The output capacitors have no effect on the load current at the transition to discontinuous operation.
