LP8863-Q1: Stand Alone Operation

Part Number: LP8863-Q1

Hi

My Customer has question

Is it possible to operate the Stand Alone for the LP8863-Q1?.
The customer writes the initial setting to the EEPROM,
Planning to use just by inputting the PWM signal.
→ Is this usage method possible?

Best Regard

  • Hi Kishimoto-san,

Yes, LP8863 is configured to use PWM input by default. So, you just need to provide PWM input and required power rails(Vin, Vdd, Vddio), and EN signal to bring up the device. Registers can be re-programmed as desired at every power up, but you may not even need it as LED current SW freq, and PWM freq can be chosen by external resistor settings.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Sung
    Thank you for reply.

I recognize that EEPROM will be read and reflected in the register when power is turned on.
Is it ok to recognize that you can not change the default setting of this EEPROM?

  • You're right.

EEPROM is just for easy internal settings from our production, not for customer's setting.

Customer can still change registers for their apps conditions.

For hybrid dimming support, we have a version "B" EEPROM as well.

    Hope this helps,
