TPS82140: TPS82130, TPS82140, TPS82150: Availability and delivery time?

Part Number: TPS82140
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS82130

We have designed some of our products with this step-down converters. Now it seems that they are everywhere out-off-stock. This is very annoying, as these are still relatively new products.

How will the situation develop in the future? Should we immediately redesign with another converter before we go into series production? Are there pin compatible alternatives?
Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Philipp,

Yes, these new modules have proven to be very popular in the market. We do show having some stock at ti.com, so you can order there. Otherwise, you need to place your orders with your distributor as soon as possible to ensure that you get an acceptable shipping date.

The 3 devices are pin to pin compatible, so this gives flexibility in the supply chain. As well, we are actively working on adding capacity and shortening lead times of these products.
  • I have ordered that small amount of TPS82140 available in TI store, just waiting for confirmation.

When will more than 1k be available in the TI store again (TPS82140 or TPS82130)? My favorite distributor says something about March 2019. A precise statement would be fine.

  • Hi Philipp,

As we speak, we are working with our channel partners to refill the inventory levels. For TPS82140, 1k orders should ship well before 2019--likely within the next weeks. If production is gated by this, please place your orders and follow up with your favorite distributor's customer service to get an acceptable shipping date.
  • Chris,

By any chance, did you order out the whole stock of what the TI store had available? I put in an order for a quantity of these at the TI store (not their full stock) a few days ago, and although I got an immediate automatic confirmation, I have seen no sign that they have shipped or any sign of progress on the order after several days. I'm living in fear that they didn't really have the stock that their system said they did when I placed the order and I'm going to be out of luck. Any further confirmation on your order?
  • Hi Stanley,

Please see this link for more details on a specific order at the TI Store: www.ti.com/.../faq-order-history-and-status.html
  • Thanks for the note, Chris. Just to be clear, I understand this is not the forum to request status of my own order - I've already placed a service request through the mechanism you suggest. My problem is that after doing that, I only got back an auto-reply and a very quick human answer which was essentially, "we'll check and we'll tell you if we learn anything." And then silence again. Which makes me real nervous, since my order *had* stock when I hit the "Go" button, but it's been 4 days with no status update. Given that the TI store offers overnight shipping, I hoped orders would be processed in a day or two, but I'm left on the edge of my seat... So I'm just going "E2E", and checking in with someone else who has ordered that part, seemingly right around the same time I did (7 May.)
  • Hi Stanley,

I sent you a private message yesterday to discuss the details of your case.
