TPS40211: TPS40211 current issue

Part Number: TPS40211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5000

The current loop of the TPS40211 IC we do not need (can eliminate the cost of the detection resistor), whether only the voltage loop can work? what effect if use voltage loop ; if  can only use the voltage ring, ISNS foot It is better to ground or give a constant voltage? Thank you.

  • The controller compares the COMP voltage with the ISNS ramp to generate the PWM. ISNS signal must be there for the IC to operate properly. To use fewer parts, you may consider the LM5000/01/02 which has the current sense resistor and the MOSFETs integrated.
